Privacy Policy

Chirp does not collect your data. It has no account, no analytics and no network connection, and nothing you log is ever sent to us. It lives on your device — and the only copies that leave it are ones you ask for, or ones your phone's own backup makes to your own account.

What Chirp stores

What you enter: coffee beans, shots, tasting notes, machine maintenance and your settings. All of it is held in a database on your device.

What Chirp sends

Nothing. Chirp contains no networking code. It does not phone home, check for updates, load remote content, or report crashes or usage to us or to anyone else. We have no servers, and we receive nothing.

Backups you choose to make

Chirp can write a backup of your log into a folder you pick. That folder might be on your device, or it might belong to a cloud service such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive or Dropbox.

The choice is entirely yours and Chirp does nothing on its own. Once a file is written into a folder belonging to another service, that service's privacy policy governs it — we have no access to it and no way to reach it.

Your phone's own backup

Both Android and iOS back up app data to your own account — Google on Android, iCloud on iOS — and Chirp is not excluded from that. So a copy of your log may sit in the backup your phone already makes, alongside your other apps.

That backup is yours, not ours. It goes to your account, we have no access to it and no way to reach it, and we are not told it exists. You can turn it off for every app in your phone's backup settings, and doing so does not affect Chirp's own backups.

We mention it because the sentence at the top would otherwise be misleading: your data does not stay on the device in the strictest sense, even though it never comes to us.

Analytics and tracking

There are none. Chirp does not track you across apps or websites, contains no advertising or analytics SDKs, and does not use the Advertising Identifier.

Children

Chirp is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anyone, children included.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app removes its database from your device. Backup files you created yourself are in the folder you chose and are yours to delete.

Changes

If Chirp ever gains a feature that handles data differently — an account, sync between devices, crash reporting — this policy will be updated in the same release that introduces it, and the date above will change.
